About Me.

Hello, I’m Jacob Reeve.

For over two decades I have helped people navigate the complex and challenging aspects of marriage, love, sex, and relationship. As an ordained minister who has been involved in helping hundreds of couples, I offer virtual or in person counseling from my home office located in beautiful Ojai, CA.

I use several personal assessment tools such as the Gottman Method as a starting place for relational assessment but when an individual within the relationship needs to process or heal from past trauma or negative internal dialogue or torment in order to be fully alive within the relationship, I have several tools to help identify the core issues and treat them.

I am a results driven guide, helping you to identify and overcome the obstacles to your own growth and prosperity. Each couple’s journey is different, and one that begins the moment you walk through the door. We work at a pace that is appropriate for your needs, establishing sustainable goals and milestones throughout your healing process.

My Own Marriage and Family

My wife Kimberly and I were married in 1997 and after several rocky years as newlyweds, we each made a commitment to become better at making the other feel loved each year of our lives. Over the years that followed, we have parented six children, four of whom are adults now, and we have experienced several life changes, career changes, faced several severe ups and downs and yet somehow managed to earn the respect and love of all of our children along with an ever deepening admiration, enjoyment, and love of each other.

Kimberly and I have discovered a path toward happy and healthy marriage, parenting, and grandparenting. Our union is not without its challenges, but we have made learning love our goal and found how a marriage covenant can become better and better, year by year. We have seen the devastation that broken marriages can bring to those who are involved and we want to help couples avoid that devastation and find the utmost joy and fulfillment from their union, and unlocking their best marriage ever!

My History in Counseling and Coaching:

In 2001, at 25 years old, I was ordained and planted a church community in the college town of Isla Vista next to UCSB. With hundreds of 20 and 30 somethings participating in that community, several who lived in one of our dorms or apartment complexes, there tended to be a high level of relational drama unfolding everywhere and all the time. Overwhelmed, my wife and I quickly began seeking out mentors, knowledge, books, seminars, training on healing and reconciliation and anything else we could get our hands on in order to help these young people succeed in their relationships. I conducted an average of about 12 weddings per year for those first five years. I also quickly adopted a rule that I would not conduct a marriage ceremony unless the couple went through premarital counseling with another married couple, which was usually my wife and me, so we were busy! The counseling duration was usually about 5 sessions long for each couple. This is where we started our journey in relationship counseling.

From there, we went on to lead several other churches or faith based organizations, all of which were similar communities in which many people were getting married and seeking our counsel and officiation. I have had the privilege of serving these couples and watching both old and new relationships develop and mature over the decades. I have learned a lot about what makes and breaks relationships and about which counseling methods have been the most fruitful. I find few things in life as fulfilling as helping to guide a couple toward happiness, healing and harmony in their union.

Other Related Ministry Experience: â€‹

During the same two decades I offered faith based marriage counseling, I was also teaching, leading organizations, offering life mentorship, inner healing guidance, and spiritual deliverance ministry regularly. I have not only offered these ministries to individuals, but have written books and articles about them and spent many years teaching and demonstrating these practices to large groups and in classroom settings. Among other ministries, I was the founder and leader of the Santa Barbara house of prayer, where for four years, most of my time went to meditation, fasting, prayer, study and mentoring. I have completed three forty day fasts among others, each of which is a demonstration of self mastery. These fasts represent times in my life where I discovered the levels of my own self control, inner strength and weakness, and spiritual resilience, and going through this process over and over has given me a heightened sense of awareness, intuition and insight for the internal battles of others.

The Gottman Method, An Amazing New Tool in My Toolbelt!

While I have spent much time developing my spiritual awareness, I also have the highest love and respect for objective, measurable scientific knowledge. My hope is to become fully educated in both spiritual and natural solutions so I can offer wisdom and tools from all angles. In 2023, I heard about the Gottman Method and how John Gottman had been conducting scientific research on married couples over the past 50 years and had recently been releasing the findings. This research provides the world with much needed data on what indicators exist for predicting marriage success and failure. His findings are quite a breakthrough and I wanted to add the data to my understanding and the tools they developed to my toolbelt so I enrolled in and completed the Gottman level 1 training course. I am currently pursuing more Gottman training, including level two and beyond. I use several Gottman assessment tools in my relationship mentoring.

You might know me through one of my other businesses or interests:

BODYBOARDING: I used to be a professional bodyboarder and am well known within that niche community around the world. In my prime I was featured in films and magazines across the globe and won several contests including a Pipeline event on Oahu. I also was the founder and lead adventure guide for The Bodyboard Expedition Series, an adventure tour organization that took top up and coming bodyboarders and surfers to uncharted waves and destinations in the USA and around the world. Many young people had life changing experiences on those trips. I am still highly active in the ocean and in the surfing community to this day.

TAILOR MADE TINY HOMES: Over the last decade I started getting into flipping houses and I manage a few of my own rentals now. In 2019, I fell in love with tiny homes and decided to get licensed as a tiny home RV manufacturer! Since then, I have converted several vintage trailers and built several custom tiny homes for clients. I use this as a creative outlet for my artistic imagination. I currently offer consulting for people wanting to maximize the potential of their existing properties or who want to set up off grid and/or tiny home communities.
